Site Updates

We are officially in down-time. This is the time of year when reality hits home for most of us. The holidays are fast approaching, some jobs shift gears for this, and the weather is getting colder. That is for those of us in the northern regions like... IOWA!!!

Of course the colder it becomes the higher the risk of seeing the "S" word: SNOW. And I'm not talking about our favorite telekinetic feline. I'm talking about that cold, white stuff that floats down from the clouds. It is beautiful to watch it fall- but I refuse to drive in it.

As this time arrives, most members are taking this time to winterize their homes and vehicles. Other members are enduring the challenge of NaNoWriMo (our featured affiliate this term- so click their banner on our site for details).

Those who are not partaking in writing challenges are working on their own projects. It is indeed a good time to polish the manuscripts. The cold weather provides the perfect excuse for staying in with a warm cup of choice (I like chai, coffee and warm cocoa myself) and turn our attention to the reason we write in the first place- our manuscripts.

And then there's me~ The Archivist. I have my next two months planned out: Along with working on The Zodiac Chronicles: Prelude I am going to FINSH or catch up on the designs for our sub-sites. I do appreciate the patients from our fans- as I am the only one contributing to the designs so far. Between this, The Zodiac Chronicles, and several other works in progress- I am set for the season. I know~ it is long passed the time they should have been done. Once I have created the list of projects for the year- I will be sharing it.

This past year was filled with issues that interfered with my focus and ability to write. But 2010 will be different... This year I am determined to finish at least 1 project. It doesn't matter which one- it would be nice for this to be Zodiac- but we’ll see where the muse will take me.

So, trust me my friends, there may be a lot happening and coming to my life- BUT my goal is to FINISH at least 1 story this year. This blog will be the first board to make the announcement when it happens.

So do not fret my friends and fans...these projects will be done this year.

On a side bar if anyone has skills with web design and would like to help- there's a few seats open on this team.

Finally- take a stroll around the site- see what we have- read the archives- have a good laugh. Take your time. And if you find yourself thinking that this is something you'd like to do. Simply register on our boards "The Arenas" - make a post in the section New Arrivals and introduce yourself, tell us how you got here and a few things about your writing interests.

Our group if fairly diverse in what they write- so for stories we want to team people with those that travel the same road in character.

Finally- Just remember one thing.... No matter how great of an idea it may be- you cannot blow up the planet. :)

July Updates

WOW- It's hard to believe how the summer has gone by. The best part- well, okay, as far as The RPG Organization goes, Mecha Rising is FINISHED!!!

Coming in at just over 66,000 words (156 pages) and after 2 years of sporadic writing- the first story in the 2nd branch of Psionics Millennium is DONE.  This make "Mecha Rising" the longest story in the entire organization. After a short breather, because we were determined to see this happen before September, Archivist will be working on setting the posts to the archives. So, stay tuned for link updates.

For those who have asked what happened we had a slight malfunction with code on the Psionics Archive site. Archivist has set up temporary pages to access the stories so that you may resume and or continue your reading pleasures. The main Psionics link is still the same: http://www.therpg.org/psionics

To answer one reader's question, I know and I'm sorry it took so long to respond. No, the vampires will not return amass, BUT there is a possibility of 'The Enforcer' showing up again. If she goes rogue, it could happen.

Here's the status list on the current stories:

Psionics: Mecha Rising – complete

Psionics: A Tale of Two Houses- yanked for a rewrite

Beginnings: The Search- yanked for a rewrite

Beginnings: Small Tremors- MIA

Beginnings: Blood Ties- MIA

MW / Psi: Boundaries- Chapter 2 ~ In Progress

MW: Her Journey- Chapter 3 ~ In Progress

MW: Recovery- Pending the events in other stories

MW: Untitled- Pending the events in other stories

MW: The Piper- suspended

MW: The Ark- suspended

We have been asked by several fans what the deal is with "Eternal's Realm". We are certain that there will be more stories in the future. As of right now though, what can we say? The characters have been rather quiet these days. We'll keep you posted.

With regard to 'The Rift', we're still working to get this going. Things can be a little tricky when you're dealing with the great expanse between parallel dimensions. Plus, there's this little thing called the "Parallel Directive".

All right and that's all. We thank you, our fans for continuing to read and keep us on our toes and putting up with us. Enjoy the rest of your summer (or winter in the southern hemisphere) and we will post again on the next update.

Site Construction Update

I finished making a few necessary changes to the pages of 'Eternals Realm' sub-domain. There are a few more adjustments to make such as altering image link (locations have changed on some) and completing or creating a small cluster of profiles. Once this is done I will move on to the next project- Psionics.

I am pleased with how this particular site has turned out. There is still a lot of work to be done but so much more has been completed. I've already started thinking about future additions. With consideration to the number of facilities depicted in the venue, it might be prudent to have separate sites for each country. There are so many possibilities. Right now thought, we need to focus on what we already have going. Of course there is still plenty of room for more characters. And new players are always welcome.

This is where things stand with these 2 sub-sites:

Eternals Realm:

Character Types- completed

Avatars - need to be reset

Profiles to be completed:

Armania

Dothmoure

Gaia

Kaylii

Loki

Lord Draco

Prometheus

Poseidon

Psionics- US Site:

BIOS need to be created

Avatars - need to be reset

Stories need to be completed and archived.

Other Houses need to be added to the list (10 houses in the US- 2 listed)

Also- add a link to a page that details each house

Once both of these sites are completed I will move on to the next project.

List of Projects:

The Beginnings

The Metal Wars

The Multiverse

The Ima Gossip Show

One site at a time… And we do accept volunteers!

I officially have way too many characters. The line is beginning to blur between the three levels of primary, secondary, and NPC. And again, I have characters active in more than one story at one time. How the frak do I keep getting in to this chaos?

I know one thing for certain- I will be happy when 'Mecha Rising' is finished. There are less than 4,000 words and it will break 60,000 words. We'll be tying up some loose ends shortly; it shouldn't be too much longer.

In other news, the new forum is up, finished, and ready for registrations. In order to give members the time to complete current stories and retain what they want, the old forum will remain active until July 1.

The new forum is located at: http://www.therpg.org/arenas/

The only difference in the URL is the 's'

Spring Cleaning Time

Hey Gang,

This is just a note to let everyone know that it's time for spring cleaning. No, I'm not talking about getting out the dusters and cleaning rags. I'm talking about the RPG Arena forums. The database is heavy with old material. Please be sure to clean out your PM boxes. If there is any content on the forums you want to keep now is the time to save it.

By July 1, 2009 I would like us to be completely moved over to the new forum installation. I understand how frustrating it is- believe me I know- however, I no longer have the tolerance for the spammers and bots that keep hitting us. To resolve the issue, I have installed a copy of version 3.0.4 with a slightly new URL. This version of the program will help to practically eliminate the problem of spam and bots.

July 1 should give everyone plenty of time to save the stuff they want to keep. It should also be plenty of time to complete some, but not all of the currently active stories.

Also- if you've not done so yet- please join us on our My Space page: http://groups.myspace.com/therpgorg

Thanks for participating

Member Update

Geremy's back!!! And things are getting interesting. There are only 5,000 to 6,000 words to go before 'Mecha Rising' is completed. Plans are finally unfolding for the upcoming story on the wedding of Vortex and Blaze. Onward and upward I say, just don't ask about the hanging chads err stories.

Honoree of the Year

Unfortunately as no nominations were made, we do not have an honoree of the year. Instead, let's spotlight the people who continue to remain devoted writers: Archivist, Kitazfrenzy, Hollow, and Iron Sun. Though there have been others involved, these 4 writers have been constant. They have amassed a total of over 450,000 words in the last 3 years. Now that's something to celebrate!

We're on the roll again- due mostly to NaNoWriMo and the holidays most of us took the time off. Now we're back. A major decision was made to remove the story "Rivals" and revert back to the original intention of the arc- highlighting on a rivalry between the East Coast campus and another Consortium house.

There is also a new addition to the Arenas- I've mentioned it before. Earth Prime deals with maintaining the balance between dimensions. we're going to see how it works out.

Mecha Rising is on the verge of closing out- but keep your eyes on this one. Some crucial information is being given that entails the main arc of Psionics Millennium.

We are taking a break from the leaches to focus more on Psionics vs. Psionics and group vs. group. Don't be surprised to find more cross visits between the Psionics areas- I'm referring to the humans- not the Autobots Wink

As for the rest of the Arenas- Beginnings is on hold, Atlantis has a new story coming soon, and I'm still working on Metal Wars. Chapter 2 is up but there's some revisions I need to make on chapter 1- and then 2. Chapter 3 is waiting in the wings and is no where close to being posted.

That's it for now- short and sweet-

catch ya on the flip side

Mark 24 ~ Update

Archivist Reporting:

Entry- 2:40 p.m.

'Mecha Rising' has moved up to slot 3 with 46,031 words. There are still a few more scenes to write before the end of this story. Whether we breach 60,000 words or not it's been one heck of a ride. We do have an inkling of an idea where things will go for some of the characters and who will be seeing the end of the ride. I'm not going to say who'll be surviving the end of this one and who won't I think that's pretty academic.

We will strive to obtain that now coveted 60,000 words marker. If we don't make it, we don't make it. At this point, the 50,000 word marker is definitely within reach. I can see us making this one.

~ This is only the beginning.
